THE WORKING MODEL
Once you are up and running as a model the next step is to secure jobs. This is commonly achieved through attending castings and go-sees. A casting will involve a group of models all interviewing for the same job. Think of it as a speed job interview. A go-see is an appointment made with a designer for their potential catwalk show or photoshoot. You are required to take your printed portfolio and Z cards along with you for the appointment.
Always be prepared
Try and find out as much as you can about the designer or client before you attend a casting or go-see. This will fill you with confidence and make you more relaxed allowing you to perform to the best of your ability.
Self belief
“Be sure what you want and be sure about yourself. Fashion is not just beauty, it’s about good attitude. You have to believe in yourself and be strong.” – Adriana Lima
It is easy to look around a room of other models and start to make comparisons. Someone is always going to be a bit taller, a bit prettier or a bit slimmer. Don’t let it get to you. We are all unique and you could be exactly what the casting director is looking for so do not allow your self-confidence to be dented worrying about your competition. Casting directors do not want to work with difficult models – no matter how stunning she may be. So remember politeness, confidence and enthusiasm goes a long way.
Top Tip – No matter what sort of day you are having always remembered to keep good manners – especially with the other models. You don’t want to give a false impression that you are difficult to work with.
